Archguitar Duo II

Archguitar Duo II • Archguitar Duo
Goldberg Variations, Dowland & more

Bach’s Goldberg Variations are among the highest achievements of the greatest musical mind in history. Unfortunately for guitarists, these pieces elude transcription for conventional six-string instruments. They sound as naturally as if they were composed for two archguitars in the hands of Blanchette & Michelini.

There are several of the Goldbergs on this CD as well as some exciting Well-Tempered Clavier Preludes. Also, there are harpsichord Sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti and C.P.E. Bach, and lute pieces by John Dowland.

This recording was made with two vintage Neumann U-67 tube microphones, resulting in what some listeners have called the warmest recorded guitar sounds since the Segovia recordings of the 1950s.
